The Chinese traditional dragon boat festival is called Duanwu Jie, in admiration of a great poet in ancient China.
The special food prepared and eaten on this day is called zongzi (glutinous rice with all kind of meats, beans and flavours, covered in bamboo leaves)

STOP NUCLEAR POWER SELF PORTRAIT

Love this picture with so many window reflections it makes your head spin with solar energy

MOSAIC TILES IN THE PAVEMENTS

You could organize a walk in the neighborhood going from one tile to the other. I don't know if this was commissioned or if it is the spontaneaous work of an artist who just "did this". Both things are possible in a city like Brussels. Anyway I love the initiative! Love also the difference in pavements though they can be quite dangerous. When it rains they become slippery and may result in ankle injuries. I am talking with experience here!

SCHOOL EXIT TOWARDS CLOUDS

Makes you dream, not?

HOUSES TOUCHING CLOUDS

Summer in the city!

HOUSE PATTERNS

The beauty of these old houses next to the ugliness of new architecture makes me shrivel. This is almost a cry against modern "functionalism".

ROOFTOPS Rue de Mignon

Next to social housing complex you have these early 20th century houses, makes an incredible mix of buildings in the same street

WILD FLOWERS ON THE STREETS

I have the same plants in my garden. They are very invasive and spread like mad, so often I have to destroy them because otherwise they take control of the whole garden. They become huge and produce magnificent flowers.

IVY AT THE BALCONIES

This was part of what attracted me to this part of Brussels, felt almost like being in Greenwich Village, NY

FLOWERS AT THE BALCONIES

So many people do this in my neighborhood. Is it to compensate the lack of gardens?
Or just because people love flowers? Or was it the result of a contest to embellish the neighborhood?
